Meet HawkSoft Employees with Insurance Experience: Matt and Noemi

It’s time for the next piece in our blog and social media series featuring employees at HawkSoft who have years of experience in the insurance industry prior to coming to HawkSoft. Our company is proud to have many employees across different teams who have real-life experience at agencies, carriers, and more. This month we’re highlighting Matt from our Sales team and Noemi from our Customer Success team. Take a look at what they have to say about their industry experience and how it helps them in their current roles at HawkSoft!

Describe your insurance experience

 

Matt: I sold insurance for three years prior to joining HawkSoft. Before that, I worked for a quoting platform helping agents get leads into different systems and work/sell them. Prior to that, I worked in tech support troubleshooting rating software for agents.

 

Noemi: Prior to HawkSoft, I worked at a local agency. I started as a scanner in the agency out of high school to help them go 100% paperless. I transitioned to CSR and agent over time, which I enjoyed. It was a great experience and allowed me to strengthen my customer service skills over the years. After a few years in the industry I decided to attend college out of state, and the agency was very supportive of my decision. When I arrived back, I jumped right back into the industry as it was something I had always enjoyed. I began to work with a friend to start up a scratch agency and assisted with the growth of the agency until a previous colleague of mine shared that they felt HawkSoft would be a good fit for me. I jumped on the opportunity and joined the best company I have ever worked for.

 



 

 

How has your insurance experience helped you in your role at HawkSoft?

 

Matt: When selling HawkSoft, I understand what agents’ day to day processes are like - very different than people imagine from the outside.

 

Noemi: There is no industry like the insurance industry; it truly is focused on building rapport and relationships. I learned that the more time you take to learn about the individual you insure, the better you can insure them based on their overall needs and assets. It was not about upselling or anything regarding premiums, it was about being able to protect them and their loved ones the best way possible. If they knew you were invested in protecting them via insurance, you gained trust and built relationships.

This also translated to my role here at HawkSoft, as I started as a Product Support Representative and now being a Customer Success Manager. I take time to learn more of one's needs and cater to those needs in order to implement the best solution possible. I always want to make sure that the customers I am working with know their best interests are in mind at all times.

Insurance can also be complex. Understanding the lingo, best practices, guidelines and recommendations on all things insurance helped me tremendously to know what it felt like being on the other side of the phone. It takes years of experience to learn all the ins and outs of the industry, so I am very thankful that I started from the bottom up at an agency. I am also very thankful for my insurance mentors that invested the time and poured a lot of knowledge into me over the years. It means a lot to me as that still helps me today in understanding the insurance world.

 

 

 

 

What is your favorite thing about the insurance industry?

 

Matt: I like that insurance is all about people helping people, in some cases during the worst days of their life.

 

Noemi: I've always said my favorite part is the focus on rapport and relationship building. It becomes natural to connect with people once in the industry. It is also an industry that is truly built of resilient individuals that can work through some of the most challenging of times. From the 2007 real estate crash to even current day challenges in the market, I see agencies grind through it all and continue to be successful. I LOVE that a passionate representative for the industry is never going to make an excuse, but will make it work and continue to build relationships through it all!

 

 

What are your hobbies or passions?

 

Matt: Exercise, travel, playing with my 14 year old Goldendoodle, Oscar.

 

Noemi: In my free time, I am in my son's wrestling corner rooting him on. He's been a national competitor since the age of 8 and it continues to amaze me just how successful he has been thus far. I am also a volunteer for a local wrestling mat club and do my best to support children looking for a positive outlet. Some of our most successful wrestlers started as young kids being adopted by the mat club parents as they took them under their wing to help guide them over the years. If I'm not rooting for a wrestler, you will see me rooting for an MMA fighter as I am an MMA fanatic and have been since the age of 10. I also love photography and writing poetry and screenplays, and enjoy painting.
